Quilts of Valor was started in 2003 by Catherine Roberts, who's son was deployed in Iraq. Catherine had a literal dream in which she saw a young soldier in a war zone who was in despair, who she draped with a quilt in order to provide comfort. From those grassroots beginnings, this movement has grown to over 10,000 Quilts of Valor members across the country, who lovingly make and award each quilt. Now in our 21st year we have awarded over 400,000 quilts to veterans and service members.
