What began as a quest to make a Mariner’s Compass quilt for her submarine officer husband turned into a revolutionary technique and the launch of Robin Ruth Design in 2015. Robin Long took an idea she first had in 1992 and developed a line of innovative rulers, books, patterns, and a strip-piecing method for making Mariner’s Compass blocks in 16 sizes (even sizes from 6"–36")—no paper piecing required!
Robin’s rulers make it easy to create 16- and 32-point compass blocks and incorporate them into bold, modern projects using simple quilting techniques. When she’s not traveling across the U.S. teaching and lecturing, she’s working on new designs that continue to bring the Mariner’s Compass into the 21st century.
Her quilts are colorful, creative, and approachable. Stop by the Robin Ruth Design booth to see live demos and shop her products—now sold in quilt shops across the U.S. and worldwide.
