Seats Available?: Sold Out Required Supplies: - Needle: Amanda uses a size 9 appliqué needle. Size 10 or 12 quilting betweens are shorter but also work well. Needle length is a matter of personal preference, though Amanda recommends a slimmer needle. - Thread: Amanda recommends 50-weight cotton thread. Polyester blend thread is acceptable, but she finds it doesn’t press as flat on seams as finer cotton thread. - Fabric: Quilting cotton is recommended. Linen/cotton blends are beautiful but their looser weave can be difficult for hand piecing. Participants should bring 3–12 fat quarters for mixing and matching. Scraps may also be used, but some pieces should measure at least 7" square for larger cuts. - Pencil: Amanda prefers a mechanical pencil with thicker lead (0.9 mm) because it drags less on fabric. A blunt regular pencil is also effective. - Template Plastic: Amanda suggests going for the thicker template plastic, such as Dritz Heavy Duty. - Rotary Cutter or Fabric Scissors: These will be provided at QuiltCon, but it’s helpful to bring your own if you can travel with them safely. - Paper/General-Use Scissors: These will also be provided at QuiltCon, but having your own is a plus. - Ruler: A 4"x14" ruler or something similar is recommended. - Fine Point Sharpie - Snips
Optional Supplies: - White marking tool for dark fabrics (such as a Gelly Roll pen)
Prep Requirements: If using scraps, go ahead and press out stubborn wrinkles and stack flat for travel to QuiltCon!
