In this no-sew workshop, MJ —maker of giant gem quilts—introduces quilters to four key rules of color interaction, helping them build confidence and control in their color choices. Inspired by Josef Albers’ insight that “color deceives continuously,” students will learn how to harness these optical tricks to add sparkle, create focal points, and bring movement and glow to their quilts. Through guided exercises, MJ will demonstrate how to simulate transparency, mimic metal surfaces without special materials, and alter how colors appear by pairing them strategically.
