Break free from traditional machine quilting using your walking foot and a domestic machine. Leave behind previous notions of stitching in the ditch or overall quilting. Approach machine quilting in an improv style, with a little planning! Students will prepare in advance three small quilt sandwiches from provided abstract designs: these will be the canvases for your machine quilting artistry. In this workshop, students will learn about overlaying quilting motifs, using different thread color with new positioning and multiple designs, and allowing the motifs to overlap. David will also discuss how to ramp up the texture with some big stitch hand quilting as well as how to gusset join your workshop samples into a finished mini quilt!
