The term "negative space" is often associated with large expanses of solid fabric, but incorporating a variety of fabrics into the negative space can add depth and interest. In this lecture, attendees will explore how a scrappy approach to negative space can transform a quilt design. This lecture will cover which fabrics and prints work best in the negative space, as well as piecing techniques that help integrate the background seamlessly with the foreground. For quilters with boxes full of prints they love but aren’t sure how to use, or those feeling guilty about unused fabric, these design strategies will offer a fresh perspective on how to incorporate scraps in a modern, impactful way.
CART (Real-Time Captioning) will be provided for all lectures in the Lecture Hall.
