1:30 PM - 4:30 PM Eastern time
Seats Available?: Sold Out Required Supplies: - How do I Quilt It? book by Christa Watson physical book available at shop.ChristaQuilts.com - Sketchbook and pen or pencil to practice drawing quilting designs. - 6-8 clear, high quality images of quilt tops you’ve designed or made, printed on 8 ½” x 11” paper (1 quilt per page). Be sure images do not print out too dark – adjust the contrast as needed to get a clearer image. If desired, print at least 2 copies of each quilt on a separate piece of paper, to explore different ideas. These can be digitally designed images (from Electric Quilt or other design software); or take a photograph of a recent quilt top you’ve made and print it out on 8 ½” x 11” paper in black and white or color. - 3-4 images or drawings of individual quilt blocks, printed on paper so that it takes up most of the page, one block per page. We will practice drawing quilting designs on these “paper” blocks for practice. - Several felt tip markers, or thin “Sharpie” pens for drawing on your sketches. Choose one or more colors that will show up on your printed images. Bring extra paper or a notebook to put underneath your sketches to prevent the ink from bleeding through.

Prep Requirements: Prepare printouts as listed on the supply list above
This workshop is hands-on, no-sew with an emphasis on domestic machine quilting. Students will practice sketching various quilting motifs, then create several different quilting plans using images of their own quilts printed on paper. Students will also discuss options for designing a quilting plan in groups, using some of the students’ quilts tops as examples. Christa will share strategies to apply students' favorite machine quilting designs to an actual quilt top. This workshop will explore how to create quilting plans for a wide variety of quilt designs and students will be able to use those skills to finish up any quilts in their UFO pile.
