Josef Albers, the great art educator of the 20th century, acknowledged how tricky color can be. He said, “Color deceives continuously.” As artists, how do we navigate this world of deception? Luckily, by using a few simple rules, we can predict how color will try to deceive us and thereby increase our color confidence. In this no-sew workshop, students will learn these rules of color interaction, then master the three important elements needed to create dramatic illusions of transparency – alignment, credible middle mixtures, and depth order.
