Seats Available?: Sold Out NOTE: Materials fees are required for some workshops. These fees are paid directly to faculty and are not part of your registration fee. Materials Fee: $20 Fee Details: A set of acrylic templates for the Hexacurve block.
Required Supplies: - Fabric: This will be for learning to make the hexacurve block unit and how to put them together so a couple fat quarters or a charm pack would be enough.(One fabric will be for the hexagons, one will be for the "snakes" so you can either do a two tone test block or go scrappy with a charm pack.) We'll be talking about planning a project, but you don't need to bring your project fabric with you to class. - Thread: Bring your favorite hand piecing thread. Fiona uses 50wt cotton from Aurifil. - Needles: Your favorite small sharp hand piecing needles such as Clover Black Gold Quilting Betweens, or John James size 12 needles. - Scissors: Small sharp scissors with a sharp point. We will be cutting pieces out by hand and a sharp tip is a necessity. - Marking pen - a marking pen or pencil that shows up on your chosen fabric. (e.g. Frixion, Legami erasable, graphite pencil, white Gelly Roll etc.) - Glue - A glue suitable for glue basting such as a Sewline glue pen, or a glue stick with a precision tip. (A normal glue stick would work, but is a bit messier!) - Templates: The Hexacurves template set will be provided and is covered by the required materials fee.
Optional Supplies: - Thread wax, or thread gloss. - A seam roller for flattening seams before trimming, there will be a few shared irons provided in the workshop room. - A small cutting mat and 25mm rotary cutter are optional for trimming or cutting out the hexagons, there will be shared cutting mats and rotary cutters provided in the workshop room. - Some coloured pencils or markers - An Ipad with procreate and pencil ONLY IF you're confident using it. This class will not cover how to use Procreate. Coloured pencils and paper will work just fine!

Students will learn about the potential for this Hexacurve block then spend time discussing how to plan and execute their ideas. Before leaving this workshop they will also master the piecing and construction of this fun block design! With the outer curves based on a 2" circle fitting into an approximately 3" tall hexagon, this is sure to be your next favorite bitesize project.
