Mechanical pencil with lead or a regular pencil along with a sharpener. - Eraser - Small Acrylic Ruler with 30, 45, and 60 degree markings. Michelle recommends the 2 ½” x 12 ½” by Omnigrid - Phone Camera (or digital camera) to take photos as you work - Shared Scissors for cutting paper will be provided, but if you are traveling with your own paper scissors anyway, bring them to help maximize class time.
Optional Supplies: - Fabric scraps - Elmer’s glue stick. - We won’t have time to sew in this workshop, but Michelle will do a basting demo for trickier shapes. You can choose to just watch or try it for yourself.
This hands-on workshop invites students to unlock their creativity by exploring the art of designing for English Paper Piecing (EPP). Moving beyond traditional patterns, this workshop focuses on creating unique, custom EPP block designs. Students will experiment with pre-cut shapes and deconstructed forms to understand how different elements fit together, then progress to drawing and designing their own shapes using both straight lines and curves.
The workshop covers essential tips and techniques to help quilters take a design from initial concept to a finished piece. Whether aiming to expand EPP skills or push creative boundaries, students will leave inspired to think beyond the hexagon and design with confidence!
